Five Predictions For 'The Batman Part II' Based On The Penguin's Finale
I hope you're not sick of blogs about 'The Penguin' yet, because I'm still on a Batman-high from Sunday's finale and have a few predictions I wanted to share about where I think the next installment of Matt Reeves' Epic Crime Saga could go....

1. Batman is going to beat the everliving shit out of The Penguin at some point
After that finale, this is what everybody wants - and I'd even argue what everybody needs - to see. If there's not a scene where Batman beats Penguin to a bloody pulp in the sequel script already, Matt Reeves, please add it in there. I know you're reading. I want that motherfucker in a full body cast by the end of the movie.
They just spent eight episodes building up Oz Cobb as one of the most evil/manipulative/scumbag characters we've ever seen in a live action Batman project. HE TOOK THE LAST OF VIC'S GOD DAMN MONEY AFTER HE STRANGLED HIM TO DEATH!! We need to see Oz get his at some point, and I took that Batsignal at the end as the creators telling us, "Don't worry guys, he'll get his soon."
You're right, Trent! Oz didn't have to take his money! And for that, he gets the Bat. Good luck dealing with that freak again.
2. Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) will break her half-sister Sofia Gigante (Falcone) out of Arkham
Sofia receiving a letter from her half-sister, Selina Kyle, was my favorite tease for 'The Batman Part II' we got on Sunday night. Everyone put two-and-two together and realized they shared a maniacal father who murdered their mothers in the exact same fashion, and wondered, are they ever gonna meet? After that cliffhanger they left us on - I'd say that's now a sure thing.
My question is: will Zoe Kravtiz's Selina Kyle want to help Sofia out? Or will she think she's no better than their father for the murders she's committed herself?
Something tells me a prison break sequence where Catwoman helps Sofia escape would go really hard, though, so I'm pulling for that. I think Selina will empathize with a fucked-up origin story and an all time duo could form there. Bruce Wayne gonna be weak in the knees trying to take them down.
3. Oz Cobb will start to make a name for himself publicly in Gotham City, showing his intentions to run for Mayor
I think because Bella Reál was JUST elected Mayor of Gotham in 'The Batman', and she hasn't even been sworn in during the events of 'The Penguin', that she'll remain the Mayor for at least the next movie. Bruce Wayne establishing a good relationship with her to help the city out financially in a post-flood crisis time could also be a focal point, as this Batman hasn't yet learned how to live that double life out in public. Since we just learned that Colin Farrell is signed on for a trilogy, though….
….I think you can just continue to plant seeds in 'Part II' and do the mayoral race in 'Part III' a few years after that. You could use that as the basis for 'The Penguin' Season 2 if they wanted to go there between movies, as that's now being talked about.
I am extremely excited to see them go down that path, though, as a 'Batman Returns' and Adam West 'Batman' superfan. Mayor Penguin is the best.
4. Harvey Dent will lead Mayor Bella Reál's Anti Crime and Corruption Task Force
Billy Walsh tells Oz that Mayor Bella Reál is forming an "Anti Crime and Corruption Task Force" - and who better to run that than good ol' Harvey Dent?! He is Gotham City's "White Knight" after all!
Harvey's always been the one to go after crime/corruption/the mob in Gotham historically, which even left him disfigured in the comics as Salvatore Maroni was the one to throw acid in his face during a trial….
….so I'm pretty sure that was a nice subtle tease at the introduction of the man who will one day become Two-Face.
This is also the second seed planted for Harvey, in my eyes, after they killed off Gotham's District Attorney in 'The Batman'….
Almost forgot how fucked that scene is. Oh, and obviously Sal can't be the one to scar him anymore, but what about Sofia? She'll have to stand trial for the Falcone murders/car bombing deaths, right? I'd be down for that origin change.
5. The Court Of Owls will be the main villains of the film
Alright, so I can't take full credit for this one. I definitely thought they'd go down the Court of Owls route in 'The Batman Part II' just because it fits so well in this universe, but I did NOT spot the actual owls in the curtains of the courtroom until it was pointed out to me later. That CAN'T be a mistake, and now I'm fully sold.
If you're not familiar, the Court of Owls were introduced in the comics in 2012 as an extremely wealthy secret society underneath Gotham City who have existed pretty much forever, and throughout history they have assassinated multiple high profile figures to influence their own political/financial interests. They were operating right under Batman's nose for years, until eventually Bruce Wayne became one of their targets, which leads him down this entire rabbit hole to figure out what's going on, and it's awesome. I mean look at these guys….
I really think it would work so well as a story in the universe that Matt Reeves has built out here, and after seeing those curtains, I'd set the line at -500 for the Court of Owls in 'The Batman Part II'. Who says no to Batman taking down some creepy high society cult shit?!
What do you think we're getting in the next Battinson movie? I know it's still like two years away, but let me know if you think I missed anything obvious on Twitter!
P.S. This look at Colin Farrell's full makeup transformation is pretty insane….
